Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need experience?
A. It is not necessary to have any experience.  You will receive both On-the-Job-Training and classroom instruction.

Q. Do I need to be employed?
A. Yes, working for a licensed contractor is required in order to earn On-The-Job-Training hours. Please visit our Member Directory page, under the Membership tab. 

Q. If I have experience, will I have to start at the first level?
A. Yes. Unless you have transcripts from another training program, you will need to start at the first level.
Q. How much does the program cost?
A. Your contractor pays for the program. 

Q. When will I go to school?
A. Apprentices attend school two nights a week. 
    Electrical and HVAC attend Tuesday/Thursday from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. 
    Carpentry, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, and Fire Sprinkler attend Monday/Wednesday from 7:00pm - 10:00pm.

Q. Where are classes held?
A. ABC's apprenticeship classes are held at Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Dale Mabry's Campus and Sarasota Technical College(STC). These are ABC's programs we just utilizes their classrooms. All program questions should be directed to ABC.
